Stretch & Flex® Elementary Championships

Stretch & Flex® Elementary Championships

Stretch & Flex® were delighted to have sponsored the 2008 British Dressage Elementary Championships. Today, dressage is the fastest-growing Olympic equestrian discipline, and is governed in Great Britain by British Dressage.

British Dressage and Equilibrium Products have common values: both organisations put the welfare of the horse at the heart of everything they do. In particular, British Dressage focuses on the horse as a 'happy athlete', and Equilibrium has developed the Stretch & Flex® range with this in mind.

The competition selected for Stretch & Flex® sponsorship was the 2008 British Dressage Elementary Championships. The Elementary level represents an important stage in a young horse's training; by supporting this level we hope that more riders will be encouraged to pursue the correct development of their horse's way of going.

This level of competition is central to a horse's progression up the ranks. Like the Novice, Medium and Advanced Medium classes it is divided into Restricted and Open sections, according to the grade of the rider. The competition ran over 9 months. Qualifiers were held at events across the country from 1st December 2007 to 30th June 2008. To gain a place at one of the Regional Finals, competitors must win two qualifiers. For Open competitors, both wins must be with a score of 66%, and for Restricted, 64%. The Regional Championships were held between the end of July and end of August, and at these Regionals, a competitor gaining 65% or more qualifies for the National Championships.

The National Championships was a huge success, helped by glorious sunshine all weekend. The results of The Stretch and Flex Elementary Championships can be viewed in our news section.
